Quadron, composed by singer Coco and beatmaster Robin, released their self entitled debut album around a year ago and have rock-steadily been blog bustin’ their way up the food chain ever since. When not doing the Quadron, Coco and Robin are part of the Boom Clap Bachelors music collective characterized by a wide span of influences – from electronica over soul to new wave and indie. Maybe this accounts to some part for their refreshing neo electro-pop take on vintage soul and r&b that has everybody looking for words to characterize them: From likeness to Little Dragon and Lykke Li, to a mix between Adele, The Supremes and Sade. Take a pick. I personally cannot help thinking of some of the early (late 60s) work of Marlena Shaw, but less jazzy and without the political charge.
